Consequently, this book underemphasizes the internal circuitry of the cerebellum, thalamus, and basic ganglia as such knowledge helps little in dealings with neurological problems.

So you can immediately see the problem with neuroanatomy. Rather than text definitions of all potentially unfamiliar terms, a selected glossary follows the text. Amazing book for both, the students reading neuroanatomy for the first time and those who want to touch base again. It’s down and dirty, no fluff of the nervous system.

A good reference to keep on the shelf too! The cover illus- tration was prepared by Sixten Netzler.
Better for the clinical years than the pre-clinical years, although I used it during both. The student requires two clinifal of books when studying the basic sciences. This book was written to fulfill the need for a brief, but readable, summary of clinically relevant ;Deutoanatomy, with examples of medical cases.
This book is not intended to replace standard reference texts, but rather to be read as a companion text before or during the neuroanatomy mwde, one which will enable the student to rapidly gain an overall’ perspective of clinical neuroanatomy. There are too many names simpke the same thing.
Electrophysio- logical impulses travel down a neuron from its dendrites to the cell body and axon. It is not goldberf synopsis of neuroanatomy; synopses simply condense larger books and are insufficient for the medical student’s needs.
Also, note that the spinal cord is shorter than the vertebral column so that the spinal nerve roots extend cau- dally when leaving the spinal cord. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone – like me – who struggled a bit to grasp the structures of neuroanatomy as presented in other textbooks or lectures.

These are further subdivided into bulges, called gyri, and indentations called sulci and fissures small and large, respectively. The author manages to take a subject that is often complex and present it in a way that simplifies it to the main concepts. I am however reading it to help a little with my neuropsychology.
